Bafang error 22: Battery (BMS) communication fault

What it means

The battery's electronics are not talking to the rest of the system.

Likely causes

• Battery not seated properly
• Dirty or damaged battery contacts
• Battery fault

Symptoms

• Code 22 shows
• Battery level may be missing
• No assist

How to fix it

1. Switch off, remove and refit the battery firmly.
2. Check the contacts are clean and dry.
3. Never open the battery.
4. If the code comes back, take the bike to your dealer or a Bafang service centre.

How urgent is it?

Have the battery checked if it keeps happening.
