Ride with caution. Safe to pedal without assist if the motor is not dragging.
What it means
The motor's position sensors are not sending a correct signal, so the controller cannot drive the motor properly.
Likely causes
- Loose motor connector
- Damaged motor cable
- Faulty sensor inside the motor
Symptoms
- Code 08 shows
- No assist, jerky or noisy assist
How to fix it
- Switch off and check the motor cable connectors are fully pushed together.
- Switch the bike off, wait 10 seconds and switch it on again.
- Do not open the motor.
- If the code comes back, take the bike to your dealer or a Bafang service centre. The motor may need replacing.
How urgent is it?
Assist will not work properly until this is repaired.
