Ride with caution. Pedal without assist only if the wheel or cranks turn freely; stop if the motor drags or locks.
What it means
The power wires between the controller and the motor have a fault, so the motor cannot be driven correctly.
Likely causes
- Damaged motor cable
- Faulty motor winding
- Loose or corroded connector
Symptoms
- Code 09 shows
- No assist
- Motor may judder, buzz or feel stiff
How to fix it
- Switch the bike off, wait 10 seconds and switch it on again.
- Check the motor cable for damage you can see.
- Do not open the motor.
- Take the bike to your dealer; Bafang's manual says the motor needs replacing.
