Shimano STEPS / EP error E295: Tampering detected

What it means

Tampering means the bike no longer complies with national or regional rules (for example a speed tuning device). E295 can be cleared temporarily by turning the power off and on, but after a set number of times the system enters Safe Mode (E299).

• Speed tuning device or modification fitted
• Non-compliant changes to the system

How to fix it

1. Remove any tuning device or modification.
2. Turn the power off and on.
3. Contact your place of purchase. Repeated E295 leads to Safe Mode (E299).
