Bafang error 33: Brake sensor signal fault

What it means

The sensor that tells the motor to stop when you brake is giving a wrong signal. The motor may not cut out when you brake.

Likely causes

• Loose brake sensor connector
• Faulty brake sensor or lever
• Controller fault

Symptoms

• Code 33 shows
• No assist, or assist not cutting out when braking

How to fix it

1. Check that both brakes work normally before riding.
2. Check the brake sensor connectors are fully pushed in.
3. If the code stays, have your dealer check or replace the brake levers/sensors.
