What it means
The speed sensor is not picking up the wheel magnet. Assist may continue, but the speedometer reads 0 and assist may cut before 25 km/h depending on gear.
Likely causes
- Wheel magnet moved or missing
- Gap between magnet and sensor too big
- Sensor cable damaged
Symptoms
- 'SPD SNSR CHK MAGNET' message
- Speed shows 0
- Assist cuts early
How to fix it
- Check the spoke magnet is in place and passes close to the sensor.
- Turn the display off and on, select an assist mode and ride a short distance.
- If it continues, have a Yamaha dealer check or replace the speed sensor.
