Generic / Chinese displays error E03: Pedal assist (PAS) sensor error

What it means

The pedal assist sensor is not sending a signal, so pedal assist will not work. On generic displays the meaning of a code depends on the controller's communication protocol; this meaning is from the display maker's manual for this protocol.

Likely causes

• Loose PAS sensor connector
• Sensor too far from its magnet ring
• Damaged sensor

Symptoms

• E03 shows
• No pedal assist

How to fix it

1. Check the PAS sensor connector near the bottom bracket.
2. Check the sensor and magnet ring for damage.
3. Switch the bike off, wait 10 seconds and switch it on again.
4. If the code stays, take the bike to your dealer or an e-bike repair shop.

How urgent is it?

Pedal assist will not work until fixed.
